Mission

The University of Arizona South Student Government exists to foster and enhance communications between the student body and the University community; to provide a forum for discussing and defining the role of students in the University; to represent and advocate their concerns within the University community and statewide; to serve as a resource for student inquiries and requests; to advise and make recommendations on existing and proposed University policies and procedures.

Goals

  • Monitor the rights and issues of students.
  • Evaluate and recommend modifications to meet the needs of our students.
  • Offer the same opportunities which are available at the main campus.
  • Promote the participation of students.
  • Strengthen communication within the university, community, and other surrounding campuses.

Get Involved

The Associated Students of The University of Arizona South (ASUAS) offers students of the Sierra Vista, Douglas, P.C.C. East and Tech Park campuses of UA South an opportunity to organize and participate in a wide variety of programs and services. Since we have a unique non-traditional student population we need your views, comments, and participation to make this university better. All students are urged to get involved with the student government in one way or another.

Student Government Executive Board Members, 2008-2009

The Associated Students of the University of Arizona South offers a wide variety of programs and services for students to participate in and take advantage of. These programs range from planning workshops, providing information regarding scholarships, as well as representing student concerns to the Dean and to the state legislature. ASUAS is responsible for the clubs and organizations that make up the campus environment. We welcome all students to get involved with student government.  

President

Responsibilities of the student body President include creating committees, programs, services, projects, and various task forces. The President is the Chief Spokesperson for all University of Arizona South students and is responsible for all of Associated Students funds, and insuring these funds are spent according to legislative branch direction, the University of Arizona and Arizona Board of Regents current policies. The student body President is one of the two Arizona Students' Association Directors and is involved with every legislative decision and oversees all ASUAS operation.

Vice President of Undergraduate Students

Responsibilities of the Executive Vice President include residing over the campus clubs and organizations and ensuring that each club is properly represented to the University of Arizona South student body. The Executive Vice President will also assist clubs in securing funding and recruitment as well as maintaining the campus calendar. Maintains a position as an Arizona Students’ Association Board of Director member.  

Vice President of Graduate Students

Is responsible for programs and services that associate students with advocacy, education and service. Is an assistant to project leaders within the ASUAS and serves on various campus committees. Focuses on the needs of current and in-coming graduate students.
Treasurer – Responsibilities include maintaining the ASUAS budget for the fiscal year as well as working directly with the Executive Officers within ASUAS. Treasurer also serves on various campus committees.

Administrative Assistant/Secretary

Responsibilities include organizing the ASUAS offices, general clerical work to include but not limited to filing, record keeping, note taking, mail responsibilities, and assistant to both Vice Presidents and President.

  • The Huachuca Museum Society is accepting applications for 2010 Scholarship Awards. Two scholarships are offered to Cochise County residents, including active duty military and their dependents, who will be attending Arizona colleges in the 2010-2011 academic year. Scholarships are open to college sophomores and juniors (students who have accumulated 30 to 60 college units) and will pay $1,500.00 per semester.
