The University of Arizona South Elementary Education program distinguishes itself in its emphasis on professional development. The mission of the University of Arizona South's Teacher Preparation Program: A Collaborative Community for Teaching and Learning is to prepare well-educated, competent and caring teachers who integrated theory and practice for classrooms of southern Arizona's increasingly diverse communities. At the heart of this program is a professional core that integrates professional preparation with actual clinical experience in public schools. Working under the supervision of a clinical professor, you'll develop the skills and confidence you need to be a successful elementary school teacher. The Teacher Education Program is an intensive learning experience and the final semester of the program requires a full-time commitment to the student teaching internship. The program under regular circumstances takes two years to complete in addition to the two years of transferable credits from a community college.
